Hourly Rates:

Consulting Rate:
$100/hour

This includes gathering and selecting ideas to write about, outlining essays and stories, and generally renting out my brain.

Content Editing Rate:
$75/hour

This includes editing your written work for content, structure, theme, and flow; polishing syntax and word choices; and generally making your prose shine and sing.

Copyediting Rate:
$55/hour

This includes editing your written work for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and other sentence-level errors only – in other words, professional proofreading.

Travel Fee:

I conduct in-person consultations in Pasadena, California, as well as over the phone and Skype/Zoom. I will also travel within 30 miles of Pasadena to meet you for a $25 fee.

Since hourly editing can add up quickly – especially if you have a long or involved project – I also offer the following packages to save you some dough. And if you don’t see a package here that meets your needs or your budget, let’s talk! I can tailor my services to best serve you.

Academic Packages:

Getting Started Personal Statement Package:
$175

If you need help getting started on your personal statement for university admission or have a draft that you’d like to take to the next level, this package is a great way to establish the best narrative for your essay. This package includes:

• An in-depth interview (in person or via phone/Zoom) in which we discuss the distinctive experiences, interests, and accomplishments that set you apart as an individual and that will guide the narrative of the essay.

• A detailed, paragraph-by-paragraph outline of your essay, complete with sample sentences. This will serve as a backbone for the drafting process.

Basic Personal Statement Package:
$375

If you’re applying to a program that requires one main personal statement that is shared with multiple schools, this package is a perfect way to get your statement done start to finish. This package includes:

• An in-depth interview (in person or via phone/Zoom) in which we discuss the distinctive experiences, interests, and accomplishments that set you apart as an individual and that will guide the narrative of the essay.

• A detailed, paragraph-by-paragraph outline of your essay, complete with sample sentences. This will serve as a backbone for the drafting process.

• Three hours of content editing to revise and perfect your draft(s).

Deluxe Personal Statement Package:
$695

If you’ve got divergent prompts or a slew of optional essays you want to tackle in addition to your main personal statement, this is the package you’ll want to go with. This package includes:

• An in-depth interview (in person or via phone/Zoom) in which we discuss the distinctive experiences, interests, and accomplishments that set you apart as an individual and a detailed, paragraph-by-paragraph outline of your main personal statement.

• Detailed outlines of two supplemental essays.

• Five hours of content editing to revise and perfect your various drafts.

Letters of Recommendation:
$100 apiece

Quite often, professors or supervisors who agree to write a letter of recommendation for you are strapped for time. In such cases, they may ask you to draft a letter for them to sign. I can help you craft a letter that is both effective and professional. This price is for those with whom I’m already working on their personal statement and am familiar with their background.
